After months of rumors suggesting that iOS 17 would be a minor update, new reports have emerged that Apple is planning major changes to the built-in Wallet and Find My apps.
In a recent podcast interview with MacRumors, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that the Wallet app could receive a number of updates, including tweaks to the user interface and support for more types of digital cards. Gurman also said that Apple is planning to make Find My a more powerful tool for tracking lost or stolen devices.
Gurman’s report is supported by a previous rumor from October, which claimed that Apple is working on a new version of the Messages app. The rumored update would include a new “home area” for organizing conversations, as well as chat rooms, video clips, and AR chat features.
It’s important to note that these are all just rumors at this point, and Apple has not officially announced any of these features. However, the rumors are coming from reliable sources, so it’s likely that they are accurate. We’ll have to wait until Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June to find out for sure what features are included in iOS 17.
In addition to the rumored updates to Wallet, Find My, and Messages, iOS 17 is also expected to include a number of other improvements, such as:
- Improved performance
- New security features
- New accessibility features
Overall, iOS 17 is shaping up to be a significant update that brings a number of new features and improvements to Apple’s devices. We’ll have to wait until WWDC to find out for sure what features are included, but the rumors suggest that it will be worth the wait.
